ABOUT PATRICK GROSSMANN

Patrick Grossmann qualified in 1974 from University College Hospital Dental School, London University, as Bachelor of Dental Surgery following which he received his Diploma of Orthodontics in 1978. In that year he was awarded a Scholarship to continue his studies at the University of Freiburg in Breisgau, Germany. For several years he was solely responsible for translating scientific articles from German into English for the highly respected German orthodontic journal - Fortschritte der Kieferorthopaedie. In addition he has translated Dr Hugo Stockfisch's substantial textbook on orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics which has been circulated worldwide.

In 1980 Patrick Grossmann entered private practice and also took up an appointment as Senior Dental Officer in Orthodontics for the South London Area Health Authority, a position he held for 15 years. At this time he was also employed by the Middlesex Hospital, London, in their combined orthodontic/maxillo-facial clinic.

His interest in the treatment of patients with cranio-facial pain and jaw joint dysfunction was stimulated by his late father, Dr W. Grossmann, Consultant Orthodontist, University College Hospital and Professor James Moss. Over the last twenty five years he has had a very close working relationship with Dr Brendan Stack, DDS, Washington DC, co-founder of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, who is widely regarded as one of the foremost practitioners in this field.

Patrick Grossmann is at present in the process of setting up a self-help group which meets periodically and brings together patients either who have had, or are currently undergoing, treatment. This provides a forum in which patients can express their anxieties and hopes in a friendly and relaxed environment. In addition to his private practice, Patrick Grossmann acts as an expert witness in dento-legal matters.
